The Education Students' Association council is elected in February and March, and the elected council takes on their positions for the following school year. The chair members are then elected in the first couple meetings at the start of the fall term.
President
Co-ordinator of operations of council,
Shall call and preside over meetings of the Executive,
May hand the chair to another Executive member on any occasion when the Executive votes for a change of chair. The chair should have a written agenda to present to the council at each meeting,
Shall represent EdSA at any meeting requiring representation from EdSA. If she/he is unable to attend, she/he must appoint alternative representation from EdSA,
Shall perform all other duties as may, from time to time, be required by EdSA.
Vice-President Internal
Shall assume the responsibility of the presidency in the event that the President is no longer able to fulfill her/his duties,
Shall form and head the committee for CHARGE, a one-day professional development opportunity for education students for which a co-chair may be assigned if necessary,
Shall perform all other duties as may, from time to time, be required by EdSA.
Vice-President External
Shall lead the co-ordination and organization of social events and fundraisers with other members of EdSA,
Shall be entitled to strike a standing committee for the purposes of those above mentioned activities, if necessary,
Shall perform all other duties as may, from time to time, be required by EdSA.
Secretary
Shall be the official secretary for the Executive committee
Shall keep accurate minutes of all meetings of the Executive committee
Shall keep an accurate record of the attendance of council members at EdSA meetings
Shall ensure that all students of EdSA have access to the above mentioned meeting minutes (by 48 hours after the meeting)
Shall keep a filing system for the affairs of EdSA,
Shall post the time and place for general meetings of EdSA and its committees at least twenty-four hours in advance of the meeting,
Shall collect all documents of EdSA and its committees, so that they will be available to the succeeding EdSA,
Shall be one of the signing officers of EdSA,
Shall perform all other duties as may, from time to time, be required by EdSA.
Treasurer
Shall keep accurate accounts of all moneys received and expended by EdSA,
Shall be prepared to give financial statements at every meeting,
Shall be one of the signing officers of the EdSA,
Shall be responsible, through executive, to set up a Petty Cash fund, not to exceed $15,
Shall work with the Vice-President Internal/External in regard to expenses and collection of money,
Shall administer financial affairs of EdSA,
Shall perform all other duties as may, from time to time, be required by EdSA.
Graduation Co-Chair(s)
Shall organize Graduation celebration and related activities. This includes the selection of locale, prices of tickets for the Graduation dinner, providing information about Graduation rings and pictures as well as assisting in the election of a Valedictorian,
Shall strike a standing committee for the purposes of carrying out any activities for Graduation,
Shall be prepared to report any and all progress to EdSA and shall bring proposed decisions to EdSA for a final vote
Shall work in conjunction with EdSA members to organize fundraising activities for the purposes of Graduation
Shall perform all other duties as may, from time to time, be required by EdSA.
After-Degree Representative
Shall act as a liaison between cohort groups in the after-degree program and EdSA,
Shall perform all other duties as may, from time to time, be required by EdSA.
Winnipeg Education Centre Representative
Shall act as a liaison between W.E.C. students and EdSA (More specifically defined below),
Shall be responsible for communicating any important announcements by EdSA to the student body at the Winnipeg Education Centre,
Shall be required to attend EdSA meetings regularly,
Shall perform all other duties as may, from time to time, be required by EdSA.
Fifth-Year Representative
Shall act as a liaison between cohort groups in their certification (5th) year and EdSA,
Shall lead the organization of the EdWear Clothing orders made available to Education Students,
Shall perform all other duties as may, from time to time, be required by EdSA.
Fourth-Year Representative
Shall act as a liaison between the fourth-year students and EdSA,
Shall work with other EdSA members co-ordinating fundraising activities and social events,
Shall help Certification (5th) Year Representative organize EdWear Clothing Sales,
Shall perform all other duties as may, from time to time, be required by EdSA.
Pre-Professional Program Representative(s)
Shall act as a liaison between the first-, second-, and third-year students and EdSA,
Shall work with other EdSA members co-ordinating fundraising activities and social events (more specifically defined below),
Shall assist with pizza sales that will occur during the Free Period on Mondays or Wednesdays,
Shall be responsible for making posters or advertisements necessary for the announcement of events and/or other occasions (socials, bake sales, special events, CHARGE, etc.) for EdSA,
Shall perform all other duties as may, from time to time, be required by EdSA.
Education Director (UWSA Representative)
Shall be elected through the University of Winnipeg’s Students’ Association elections,
Shall act as a liaison between EdSA and the University of Winnipeg Students’ Association (UWSA),
Shall perform all other duties as may, from time to time, be required by EdSA.
